Quedgeley Newsletter - Aug 2019

RS

Hi Everyone, this is our August Newsletter...

Summer Fun

We have been having lots of fun at nursery over the summer playing outside and making the most of the lovely weather. Prior to the summer months beginning we had made some improvements to our garden with a new construction area and planting area for the children to enjoy over the summer.  The children have been learning about growing and the importance of looking after the plants and flowers.  The children were able to see their achievements and then pick them for eating at snack time.

Our other plans for updating our garden area is to create a car wash and make the wendy house more home like.

Pre-school Graduation

We had a lovely celebration for our children that will be leaving us for school at the end of August.  The children enjoyed bouncing on the bouncy castle, having their faces/arms painted and receiving their certificates and goodie bags.  Nicky made us a lovely graduation cake which the children, parents and grandparents took home with them to enjoy.

Helping Our Environment

Over the next few months we will be focusing on what changes we can make to help our environment.  One of our biggest items that we use within the nursery that is harmful to the environment is WET WIPES! Some research has been done into biodegradable wet wipes but you can imagine the cost of them is quite high.  However we have decided that if we can reduce our usage of wipes then the cost would be the same. We are going to begin a trial and will keep you updated with our progress.

We will also be re-using food packaging for model making and in our role-play areas. Please let us know if you have any other ideas.

As part of our learning outcomes the children will be taught about the importance of looking after our environment and the 3 R's (Reduce, Re-use, Recycle).
