Update 15th June

I do hope everyone is keeping well. We have almost finalised the numbers of children who will be returning in July and are looking forward to welcoming them all back. If you have not been contacted regarding July, could you please drop me an email at [email protected] regarding your plans.

I just wanted to clarify the nursery policy with regard to Covid 19 Symptoms. The government guidance states that if you present symptoms of Covid 19

• a new continuous cough

• a high temperature

• a loss of, or change in, your normal sense of taste or smell (anosmia)

you must self-isolate at home for 7 days and the immediate family should self-isolate for 14 days. All staff and children who are attending a childcare setting will have access to a test if they display symptoms of coronavirus, and are encouraged to get tested in this scenario. Where the child or staff member tests negative, they can return to their setting and the fellow household members can end their self-isolation. If the child or staff member tests positive, the rest of their immediate group within their setting should be sent home and advised to self-isolate for 14 days.

At Chestnuts, we will have to adhere to these guidelines, although we are very aware that many children have high temperatures for other reasons that are not Covid related, so if a child comes to nursery with a temperature we will have to send them home for 7 days, unless they test negative for Covid 19. This is a difficult dilemma, so please do not send your child to nursery if they have a temperature.

I think we will continue to have many challenges to overcome over the next few months and I encourage you to let us know if there is anything you feel we could be doing better.

Its been great hearing how well all the children who have returned are doing and we are looking forward to welcoming back more children and staff members in July.

Kind regards
